EVFD Burning Ban

Due to COVID 19  The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy in collaboration with provincial public health partners has issued open burning restrictions. So this means you can have a Campfire at this time ( half a meter by half a meter) making sure it is contained and you have water on site.

The following activities will be prohibited, and these restrictions will remain in effect until the

public is otherwise notified:

  • Category 2 open fires;
  • Category 3 open fires;
  • Resource Management open fires;
  • the use of fireworks;
  • the use of sky lanterns; and
  • the use of burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description

Typically, human-caused fires are more common in the spring due to field and debris burning.  By considering an earlier province wide burning prohibition, the BC Wildfire Service anticipates a reduction in human-caused wildfires. This will minimize the need to deploy staff, which help to reduce their risk of exposure to COVID-19.

To report a wildfire or backyard burning violation, call 1 800 663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cellphone

EVFD Stations

The Errington Fire Department is following suit with the rest of the Fire Stations around our district.
As of now, Errington Fire Station is closed to the general public. Only Fire Department members have access inside the Station. We are doing this to try and keep our members healthy and able to respond to any calls that may come in. We will monitor this week to week. If you are calling 911 and you are feeling sick please let dispatch know of this so we can prepare ourselves.

We copy the province in saying that if you feel sick and unwell, please stay home and if you’re coming back from out of the country, please self-isolate yourself for a 14 day period.

It’s that time of year again! This year we will be having our
